"Margarita" lunula necklace

This lunula necklace is based on the Roman jewelry of the 2nd century AD.
 The necklace is made with champagne-colored wax pearls, the center piece a gold-colored crescent moon (lunula). The delicate, typically Roman S-clasp holds the necklace securely and firmly.
 
 Among the many forms of lucky charms and amulets in Roman times, crescent-shaped ornaments are particularly common.
 Roman women wore Luna pendants in honor of the Roman goddess of the moon of the same name.
